My Journey to Mental Performance Coaching
As a kid, I was all about sports—soccer, hockey, volleyball, basketball, football, tennis, wrestling, and baseball. I liked them all, but deep down, I always knew there was one sport that had a different pull on my heart. It was baseball. Once I found that true love, I went all-in, pouring my energy into it, with a side of basketball. I honed my skills, worked tirelessly, and made it to high school, where I became a solid player. It paid off when I was invited to walk on at the University of Nebraska Omaha, eventually earning the starting position as first baseman.
My journey then took me to Bellevue University, just outside of Omaha in Bellevue, Nebraska, where I played for the Bruins and helped lead the team to two NAIA World Series appearances. I even had the privilege of playing a few years of semi-professional baseball. Looking back, my career was filled with success, but deep down, I know I fell short of my true potential.
It wasn’t a lack of physical talent that held me back—it was the mental game. I didn’t have the mindset tools to sharpen my focus, strengthen my routines and discipline, or build the resilience needed to perform at my best when it mattered most. That realization drives my passion today: helping athletes develop the mental tools I lacked.
After baseball, I transitioned into sales, where I learned a valuable lesson: rejection. In baseball, the best hitters succeed only three out of ten times, and in sales, you hear “no” more often than you hear “yes.” My experience with failure in both fields taught me the power of resilience and perseverance, which helped me later as I coached high school baseball and became a sixth-grade teacher. Teaching was fulfilling, but as much as I loved it, it didn’t pay the bills for the family I would someday build.
More importantly, I felt a calling to do something more—something that aligned with my purpose. I realized my passion wasn’t just about sports or teaching; it was about helping others overcome mental barriers, tap into their true potential, and show up as their best selves every day.
That’s what led me to become a Mental Performance Coach. This journey, this purpose, has become so important to me. It’s not just about making athletes the best they can be—it’s about helping people unlock the power of their minds to perform at their highest level, in every aspect of their lives.
This is my passion, and I get to live it every day. If we get the chance to work together, I believe we can create something extraordinary. We’re here to help each other, to make the most of this precious time we have, and to unlock the best versions of ourselves. Let’s Go!
